Michael Voorhees '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Michael Voorhees and I am excited to have the opportunity to play college baseball. I am a 2023 graduate who is 5’ 10” and 160 pounds. This year I played outfield  and pitched occasionally (RHP). Here is a little insight into my life. Very similar to how there are four bases on a baseball field, there are four main areas in my life:

• - First base is sports. As long as I can remember, baseball has been an enormous part of my life. Whether it's wiffleball in the front yard, or the Junior Olympics, I play hard with a smile on my face. My coaches from all levels of play have repeatedly commented positively on my hustle, attitude, athleticism, and teamwork. My goal is to make it to the majors someday, so that my job could be playing the game that I love.

• - Second base is school. I am in honors and AP classes and work hard to get the best grades I can. My favorite class is AP Physics. Although this is the hardest class I’ve taken, I find it interesting to learn about how the world works.

• - Third base is music. I’ve played trombone since fifth grade; during my freshman year I was in the HS marching band. I’ve learned a lot and made many friends. I also taught myself guitar during the pandemic and I enjoy it very much. I find that guitar is trickier than trombone, but it is very satisfying when all my hard work pays off and I am able to play a song.  I’ve joined my church youth band and am enjoying playing with them.

  • - Home plate is God, family, and friends. I am very grateful for the support and love of my family and friends, and I appreciate everything they do to push me to be the best person I can be. God is also a very important part of my life. Whatever happens, as long as my faith stays strong, I will be happy in life.
