Personal Statement
My name is Landon Gonzalez and I attend Centennial High School in Bakersfield CA. I will be graduating from high school in June 2020. For the last five years I have had the honor of playing with the Bakersfield Braves Baseball Academy (BBBA). Playing with BBBA has provided me with the opportunity to mature as a player and a young man, given me a better understanding of the game and the insight of what coaches are going to expect at the next level. Baseball has been my passion growing up. I work on all parts of my game everyday, I lift weights, follow a throwing program, and work on hitting and fielding to strengthen my baseball skills. In addition to developing the physical part of my game, I continue to work on improving my baseball IQ which is essential in improving as an overall baseball player. I set goals and continually work towards improving my overall lifting strength, hitting, running speed and throwing velocity. As far as academic accomplishments, I work hard to ensure I maintain good grades, if this means getting a tutor, meeting with my teachers outside of class time, or studying extra hours at home, that is what I am willing to do. It is important for me to push myself to be the best person I can be in all areas of my life: academically, athletically and personally. My ultimate goals is to gain the interest of college scouts so that I can earn a scholarship to play collegiate ball, while at the same time, have the opportunity to be provided a high level education.
