Personal Statement
My name is Zachary Johansen and I am a 5'11'' 185 lb. catcher. I attend Stockdale High School in Bakersfield, CA. As a Freshman, I started for my high school's junior varsity team and was brought up to varsity to contribute as a freshman. As for my sophomore year, I started as the designated hitter throughout the year on a senior-dominate team. Our team ended up winning the section championship and the season allowed me to better myself in looking up to such talented seniors and implementing their skills into my game play. Last summer, I began to play for GBG during the club season. I have managed to increase my arm strength greatly and get my pop time up to a 1.93. My swing has been dialed in throughout last summer and most this previous season. I pride myself on my work ethic and drive to become a better ballplayer and person throughout my life. This continues on and off the ball field. I also pride myself in my academics and ability to perform well in school. My goal for my academics in high school is to finish first in class over a very qualified and bright group of kids in my graduating year. As for the upcoming summer baseball season, I hope to connect with new schools and push for new opportunities in furthering my baseball career.
