Sam Wilson-Mietz '19 Recruiting Profile

My dream has always been to play college baseball and I am so close to living this dream.  Growing up, I was never interested in spending my free time in front of a screen. You would find me outside kicking a soccer ball against the side of the house. Or burning all my energy by running up and down the street. My passion and drive for sports was founded from how I spent my free time as a child. 

My sophomore year is when I first hit my peek of maturity and leadership in both the classroom and the field. That season in baseball we were ranked towards the bottom of the league in standings. There was a loss in motivation and as team captain I helped my team discover it is possible to overcome adversity and bounce back stronger than before.  Towards the end of the season I pitched a shutout win in the first round of the playoffs against St. Vincent St. Patrick.  Together we faced a tough team with confidence, chemistry, and motivation.  After every game, I would run from foul pole to foul pole( 10x) to keep my arm in good condition. Walking back with exhaustion, I was met by the local radio station host. I was lucky enough to be televised for a postgame interview. I will never forget my first interview and hope for many more to come.
