Being named the starting centerfielder on the varsity team my freshmen year was the highlight of my high school career to date. In addition, I transitioned to the lead-off batter just a few games into the season. Within these roles I learned the value of teamwork, discipline and leadership.
I am fortunate to be a part of a successful program, winning a league championship all while playing against some of the top ranked programs in southern California. However, I feel that I grew the most as a student-athlete my sophomore year due to my struggles with injury. Growing up on a softball field watching my 3 older sisters, I learned that much of the success on the playing field is taught during both times of victory and times of defeat. During that season I refocused my energies on building character. I learned the importance of sacrifice, work-ethic and commitment. In the end, this trying season made me not only a stronger player but a stronger teammate. In my two years on varsity I experienced both successes as well as faced adversity and will take the lessons learned into the next two years of varsity baseball. I look forward to progressing in my high school play and advancing to the collegiate level.
