Hi – my name is Jack Mettam and I will bring focus, determination and perseverance to the classroom, baseball field and gym at a college where I can pursue a degree in business and play the game I have loved playing since I was six. I like to set goals, like keep my GPA above a 3.5 [it’s 3.6] and my next goal is to score at least 1200 on the SAT [it’s 1060] I challenge myself in the classroom with AP and Advanced classes. In sports coaches have told me how they like my athleticism, how I am coachable, how I get the job done and most of all that I hustle and have a high baseball IQ.
Playing sports in high school has helped me to be a better student because I have to plan ahead to meet homework deadlines and study for exams. The exercise helps me to handle stress, especially during Junior year when the courses I took were very demanding. I like being part of a team and the friendships I have made when playing baseball for my high school and travel teams and want to continue that experience in college.
I like to travel and have visited many different areas of the US, so where I attend college and the division of play is not that important. My goal is to find the right college where I will graduate with a business degree as well as have the opportunity to play baseball at the next level.
