My name is Joseph Wiersma, a 2020 graduate of Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, California, with a 4.5 GPA. I am 6'4" tall, 220 pounds. I have been playing baseball since I was five years old. My T-ball coach was my best friend’s dad, which made baseball a blast for me from the beginning. I never stopped playing since that first year. I truly love the sport and find a rush of adrenaline on the mound. I have played many positions on the field, but find my strength is on the mound. I have always been in the batting line up with a strong bat as well. I am a dual sports athlete at Orange Lutheran High School, a trinity league D1 school. I play baseball and football. Baseball is my first love, but football is something I enjoy as well. I am a defensive end/tight end at the varsity level of football. I believe being a dual sports athlete as well as a dedicated student with a rigorous academic schedule has taught me dedication and discipline. I was a team captain on my freshman year baseball team. I am not a loud, outspoken person, I believe in leading by example. I have been told by many coaches and teachers that I am a strong leader to my peers. I believe in giving 100% to whatever I do both on the field and in the classroom.
I am extremely devoted to playing baseball at a collegiate level, and hopefully beyond. I continue to build and expand my abilities by working with personal coaches for development as well as playing in high school and on competitive travel ball teams. I am looking for a college with strong academics and a competitive baseball program.
