Personal Statement
My dad tells the story about my third Christmas where he got me my first baseball kit which consisted of a red plastic bat, a foam baseball and foam tee. According to my dad, playing baseball throughout my toddler years was something I did almost everyday. At the age of seven I began playing little league and at at the age of eleven travel ball. Throughout those years I learned that you will always experience defeat and success, but what’s important in life is that you never give up on yourself during the good or bad times.
Never giving up myself was a mental effort during my freshman year in high school. My freshman year I decided to play tackle football for the first time. Starting on both offense and defense took a toll on my shoulders causing me to slightly tear my left labrum. This caused me to miss my first year of high school baseball. I thought that I would not be able to comeback from such an injury, but the game of baseball taught me to never give up on yourself. I put 100% of my physical and mental effort into my rehabilitation, weightlifting and baseball skills. The life lesson has paid off and I now look back with great pride and look forward with great optimism.
I've worked hard both on the field and in the classroom with the goal of earning a chance to attend an excellent college. The opportunity to play college baseball means that I have a real chance at becoming a medical doctor and creating a life that will allow me to be a successful person who helps others.
