Out of all the sports available to a kid, baseball was the only sport for me. I honestly can’t remember what age I started playing baseball but when I was about 8 or 9 I knew baseball was what I wanted to do with my life. I grew up watching Bryce Harper who I idolized as an offensive player because he had such a nice swing, I would try to recreate his swings in games. I would also watch Yadier Molina’s catching highlights because he is so good at what he does behind the plate that I wanted to be able to catch like him. Throughout my baseball career I have learned that baseball is a team sport and you can’t control the whole game by yourself, you need your team. It was while I was in recovery from an injury duirng my junior year I found appreciation for physical therapists and athletic trainers and I have decided that this would be a perfect alternate career path, as baseball is my main choice of career. Through many adversities on and off the field I have always found the baseball diamond to be where I am most a peace. I have always been what you would call a utility player. I can be placed almost anywhere on the field and be successful. However, with that being said, my first love on the field is being a catcher. I am quick behind the plate and on the bases. I have what some would call a “long wing span” as I am on the tall side for a catcher. I am able to pick the ball when needed but my blocking skills are not to be underrated. I am able to run scenarios quickly in my head and make split second decisions in order to make the right calls to the field. I am one of the fastest kids on my travel team at the moment and can steal bases like no other because I take note of the pitchers timing and use it to my advantage. With my skill set, drive, determination, and abilities I feel I would be an asset to any team.
