Marco Bates '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Marco Bates, I am a student of Cajon High school in San Bernardino, CA. I am presently a senior at the above-mentioned school. I am also readying to graduate in June 2018. Apart from my academic achievements, I am actively engage in extra- curriculum activities both in my school and in the community. Throughout my time at Cajon High School, I have been a member of the schools varsity baseball team.  Play baseball has taught me discipline, respect, hard work and commitment to success. It also helped me in my academic journey. I am going graduate with a 3.5 -3.8 graduate point average and has been in advanced placement classes much of of my high school career. Additionally, in my community, I am active in my church program and a member of the California Jays baseball team that is based in San Bernardino community. 

My parents have been vary instrumental in both my personal and academic lives. They instilled in me mantra that "if you honestly work hard , you will succeed ". They also taught us the importance of education. It is their commitment to raising me "right" that has been propelling me to succeed in life. For instance, my parents have always ensured that everything I need to succeed in baseball and school are promptly and adequately provide for me. However, I must say that it has not been easy for our family as far as meeting our financial needs are concerned, but we have continued to thrive and thus "taking our situation one day at a time". I am grateful that I have such wonderful people around me and parents, that have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice so much for me. It is belief that one of the best ways to repay them for being good parents would be to acquire a good college education and hence my pursuit for academics and a baseball scholarship.
