Personal Statement
I am a Junior in High School. I know I want to attend a College/University and play baseball. I have decided to major in Sports Management, I know it isn't offered at all College/Universities so I would major in Business Management and then get a Masters in Sports Management.
I am very busy in High School. My grades are important, I check them daily to be certain I am maintaining a good grade point average. I know the importance of being academically prepared for my future. I know that everything I do going forward counts.
I can't wait to get on the baseball field after school. I'm always one of the first ones to arrive. I like to help set up the field, to me, that is an important part of the experience. I hustle the whole time I'm out there. I have learned a strong work ethic over the years. I know I need to put positive energy info my sports program and academics as well. I don't want to spend time doing things, I want to put time in so I have something to take out later, if I spend time.....I can never get it back.
I have noted that I am a corners guy and I right handed pitcher. I love being a position player so my focus hasn't been on pitching but I can do it if you need me to. My primary positions are 1st and 3rd but my coach is confident playing me in the corners, outfield or pitching. Bottom line, I play where I'm needed, if I don't know it, I learn it. I have been taking pitching lessons for a several years, I throw bullpens and pitch a few innings here and there. No matter what position I am playing I like to be the voice on the field. I have found I can encourage my team mates from any position I'm at.
I started out on JV last year and after 3 games was moved up to Varsity. By the end of high school I will have played 3 years on varsity. I was the only athlete on my team to be selected to play in the San Diego Showcase. Players are selected by their coaches. I also had honorable mention for the Eastern League as a Sophomore on Varsity.
I am excited to see where life takes me. Baseball is my dream but I do understand that academics is very important and I need to plan for a career off the field. No matter how far I get in the game, it will come to an end at some point and I can hopefully have a career in some aspect of baseball.
