Ruben VEINBERGS '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ruben Veinbergs, and I am a baseball catcher from San Diego, CA. I would like to introduce myself and to inquire about your varsity baseball program. I attend the San Diego Jewish Academy, am 17 years old, and scheduled to graduate June of 2019.

At the Jewish Academy I am a three sport athlete, but baseball is my passion. My primary position is catcher, but I can also play outfield. In addition to having the technical and physical skills, I possess the strong mental skills to game manage and be a leader on (and off) the field, as demonstrated by me being a team captain in multiple sports.This combination of skills positions me to excel as a catcher at the collegiate level. Outside of school I currently play for the 18U Trosky Redbirds Club Team, an elite baseball program with consistent, successful finishes in regional and national tournaments and placement of players in DI-DIII universities.

Academically, I am a very strong student-athlete and a member of the Union-Tribune All Academic Team my sophomore and junior year. My current GPA is a 3.9 and I  finished my junior year on the Principal’s Honor Roll with a 4.2 taking a rigorous schedule of three AP and one honors courses. I am currently at a 29 ACT score but am targeting a score in the 30’s when I retake take the exam mid October.
