My name is Max Lee, and I am a sixteen year-old junior at the Harker School in San Jose, California. I love the game of baseball, and would be honored to have the opportunity to play at your college.
I first played baseball at the age of five, and through my last eleven years of playing experience, I have grown immeasurably as a person. Baseball has taught me to always hustle and give my full effort, to persevere when times are tough, to accept and grow from failure, to be focused, to be a leader, and most importantly to always pursue my dreams. I am positive that my time spent on the diamond has taught me many virtues that will stay with me my entire life.
In addition, I have worked hard on the field to succeed as a ballplayer. During my freshman year, I started in center field on my school’s varsity team. I performed well defensively, committing zero errors and leading my fellow outfielders. I also performed well offensively. Batting second in the lineup, I maintained a .365 batting average, stole 10 bases out of my 11 attempts, had 18 RBIs in my 63 ABs, and hit a home run. I was the best performing freshman in my league in all of these performance categories, and earned an All-League honorable mention for my performance. I continued to play well during sophomore year, hitting over .300, maintaining a perfect fielding percentage, hitting a grand slam, and receiving first team All-League honors.
Off the field, I am an intelligent and hardworking student. During my freshman and sophomore years I took many honors and AP classes and received straight A’s both years. My GPA is currently 4.47, and I plan to work even harder in the coming years to continue to succeed academically. In addition to my studies, I sing with my school’s choir, play the piano, and compete in DECA events, among many things. In part thanks to my baseball experiences, I have learned to challenge myself in every aspect of my life and the results have definitely shown.
I am confident that as a player, I will bring a positive attitude to your team and perform on the field and at the plate. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my personal statement.
