I have learned through trials and tribulations that when I set my mind to something that I am passionate about, I will succeed. My goal is to attend an academically focused college/university where I can play baseball. Specifically, where my size and strength will be able to dominate at the plate and at 1st and 3rd base. I am 6’1”, 215 lbs and continue to get bigger and stronger. More importantly, I am focused on my baseball IQ and continue to work with a hitting coach to perfect my swing.
The last 3 years have been transformative for me. After struggling in middle school and my first year in public high school, I knew something needed to change. Although I was able to accel in athletics in public school, playing football, basketball and baseball, academically I was not getting what I needed. Therefore, I fought through major roadblocks to get into Junipero Serra High School as a transfer student for my Sophomore year. Due to my previous academics, that needed to be and was my primary focus. If I didn’t perform, I knew they would send me back to public school. With the right energy and mindset, I finished my first semester with a 3.0 grade point average and have improved every semester since, achieving a 3.6 GPA this most recent fall semester.
I knew I would have to fight for a position on any of the athletic teams at Serra, given their long history of success and with the number of athletes they recruit from across the Bay Area. Given most of my sophomore year we were in lockdown due to Covid, I worked independently with my baseball and conditioning coaches. My hard work paid off and I earned a starting spot on the JV football team and a roster spot on the JV Baseball squad. Due to the way sports were played last year, I played JV baseball and football at the same time – 2 sports at once at one of the best athletic schools in the state.
Heading into my junior year, I knew I needed to focus on one sport if I wanted to play at the varsity level and beyond. Even though I had a starting spot on what would be a state championship runner-up football team, I knew my passion was on the diamond and starting in the summer of 2021 committed myself full time to baseball.
I continue to grow and refine my skills. I’m looking for a school where I can showcase those skills and as importantly shine in the classroom, which is why I am mainly considering academically focused programs.
