Personal Statement
I want to play baseball at the next level because I love the game.. It is my main sport and I have been playing it since I was 6 years old. I really started to get into the sport when I was 9 years old and made my first All Star team, and after that season I made every All Star team until I could no longer compete in the Santa Cruz Little League. During these All Star seasons, I felt that I became a stronger performer while playing baseball because I was willing to do much more for the team, and I think this is why I have become as good as I am at the game, like this year I will play varsity for my school, and I credit it to being able to play with this mentality- that I’ll perform to my best ability to help out my team. I plan to have baseball in my life as long as I can, and even when I have to stop playing, I am very interested in coaching and feel that I can go far doing that because of my knowledge of this great sport.
I come from a small surfing & tourist town on the California Coast called Santa Cruz. I was born here and have lived here my whole life, and to me, it’s hard to imagine a better place to live in the US. I am proud to live here because I am a 10 minute bike ride away from the Pacific Ocean and some of the best surf on the West Coast, and it makes me feel special because there are people who don’t live near the ocean and go their whole life without seeing it, and I get to see it everyday. My town is not a baseball town, we are really only a surf town, so it can be challenging to practice baseball outside of team practice, so when I’m at practices I work extra hard to get better. This is why I feel a coach would want me on their team. (In my eyes) I have good sportsmanship, I am a strong hustler on the field, and I can contribute greatly to the team's success offensively with a strong bat, and defensively with a good glove . I feel like I am a good enough ballplayer to play at the next level (college), and have the skill, knowledge, and love for the game where I feel like I can make a strong contribution to a team. On a team, I feel like I make friends easily and that I get along well with my teammates and support them no matter if we are up or down, I have also noticed about myself (especially in baseball) is that I don’t often get nervous when put in tough situations, and just roll with whatever happens, I am also able to keep a calm head during the most intense situations in baseball and don't let myself get discouraged or down when things are tough"
My ideal type of college to play baseball at would be a Division II or NAIA school, preferably on the West Coast (California, Oregon) so that I am still close enough to the ocean because it’s hard for me to be away from it for a long time. The majors I am interested in considering are business, finance, and criminal justice. I am interested in business and finance because they are subjects that can be a foundation for many great jobs. Criminal justice is also interesting because I think it would be very fun to solve cases, because I really enjoy solving puzzles with very little information to them that others have a hard time solving.
I sincerely thank you for taking your time to consider me for your team, and hope that I can make an impression on you.
