Personal Statement
Hello Coach,
A goal of mine ever since middle school is to go to college to study STEM while playing baseball. I believe I have the skill to do this at a high level, both in academics and athletics. As a student, I have worked very hard to get strong grades in challenging classes, even though I play either football or baseball the entire school year. As an athlete, I have spent hundreds of hours practicing, building upon my strengths and fixing my weaknesses. At the beginning of my junior year, I suffered a pretty big blow tearing my ACL in week 2 of the Varsity Football season. However, I knew that I would be slowed down but not stopped, and I recovered in time for the first game of the baseball season. This took a lot of grit and determination, but I was able to do it thanks to my family, my friends, and my teammates. I believe it is this perseverance, the perseverance that allows me to overcome a horrible injury or study long hours into the night, that will help me succeed in the classroom and on the field at the collegiate level.
