Personal Statement

My name is Quentin Hooks, I have a determination to learn and play at the highest levels of my ability.   I am driven by the opportunity to play baseball and learn at a college level.  My goal is to maximize my own abilities and grow into a strong addition to a potential college and team. I understand that I must work hard on and off the baseball field to achieve this once in a lifetime opportunity of playing college baseball. I care about competing and winning with integrity. On the field, a player is held accountable for what he does in between the lines, and how he conducts himself off of it, in terms of preparation and accountability, makes him a true winner. I take those same principles to the classroom and at home. Playing sports, you are able to identify values which can help you grow as a person through competition and overcoming barriers to achieve your goals.  I have played every position on the field, I have grown to love the pressure in the crunch and the courage it takes to compete. Baseball has truly helped me discover what is beneath my personal exterior. I am driven to attend a college where I can build my character and push myself in the classroom and on the baseball field. In school, I strive to maintain consistent improvement.Even if my grades slip a bit in a given class, I worked with my teachers to study hard and improve my grades to over a 3.0 gpa. On multiple occasions, I received the honor of receiving many baseball awards. Thriving for continued improvement, I have played on several travel teams impressing on coaches my versatility as a player. Those experiences have given me the opportunity to play in and win national tournaments. I dream of one day being able to say I pushed myself to dream bigger than I ever could have imagined and now I am living the dream to make myself and my family proud.I play starting short stop for my high school varsity team. I have played and have great ability to play anywhere from pitcher to catcher from third to first base I can play them all. I have a very easy and effortless delivery with the ball coming out of the hand when I pitch. I play with poise, self-control, and the ability to compete in pressure situations.  I respect the game, parents, teachers, peers, coaches, officials and the opposition at all times.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
