Eleven years ago at my preschool graduation, my dream job was announced as “a pro baseball player.” However, as I become older and, ultimately, closer to my lifelong dream, I now call it a goal. Unlike dreams, goals can be reached; therefore, through my strong work ethic and focus in the classroom and on the field, I truly believe I can accomplish everything I set my mind to. From tee ball to machine pitch, and then Cal Ripken to Windsor High School, I have always been known to be coachable and have a smile across my face on the field. The smile isn’t always because I’m happy with my performance, but it comes from my passion for the game. The passion I play with has resulted in my dedication for further development. Commitment and the drive to improve have led me to continue strength, speed, and agility training along with baseball drills.
While my individual hard work is vital, my relationships on the field with coaches and teammates are equally important, enabling opportunities for positive team chemistry. The development of trusting relationships among teammates since I began playing has also assisted in building my character as a leader and captain. As a shortstop, even though my strengths are having a high baseball IQ, side-to-side and forward-backward range, hand-eye coordination, and smooth glove work, my mentors and peers motivate me to continue to enhance each skill. Since I was 4 years old in my first organized baseball game, I always strive to succeed while remaining humble. As a scholar-athlete with a 4.5 GPA, I look forward to progressing during the upcoming high school season as I aim to play at the next level while I pursue a college degree.
