I started playing baseball when I was 5 years old because of my brother. I saw him playing baseball and I wanted to do what he did. I had a lot of influences in growing up. My parents, my friends and teachers all played a role in my career.I feel very fortunate.
Today my favorite thing to do in the world is play baseball. It’s what drives me during the day and it’s on my mind all the time. I am a junior in high school and I have lots of friends and am very social. I also play basketball along with baseball.
What I’ve learned through baseball is to get good at something you have to keep practicing. I am really concentrating on baseball. I wake up at 4:30 every morning and go to the gym to build strength to take my game to the next level, always wanting to improve. I believe baseball has developed me into being the best person I can be. It has taught me to learn from my mistakes, as the game can be a very humbling.
In high school I continue to maintain my GPA of 3.5 (not weighted) with ambitions of improving and learning. On the field, I think I have two qualities that stand out. One being that I am very smart at the plate, and the other being great field sense (where to be and when).
In college, I’m looking forward to finding something that I enjoy and could do every day. I am willing to go anywhere where I can play baseball. I believe I will be an important part of a team because I am a great leader (as I was selected varsity team captain as a sophomore by my teammates). I also push the people around me to get better and lastly, I believe I am a good ball player with the discipline to constantly improve.
