Personal Statement

My collegiate goal is to work hard and earn a scholarship to play baseball.  Athletically, I want be an everyday starter and be the best catcher in the conference. My passion is baseball!  Academically, my goal is to earn a degree in Criminology and finish at the top of my class. I believe that these goals are attainable because of my unparalleled work ethic. I work as hard and as long as it takes in order to perform at my best. Also, when faced with adversity, I do not give up. Instead I rise up, commit to grit, and work harder to overcome any obstacles. This past summer I completed a 250 mile mountain bike trip through the mountains from Colorado to Utah. At times it was hard, but I used my work ethic and positive attitude to help me push through and keep going.

This same mentality applies to baseball and school.  Nothing will get in the way of me achieving my goals because of my “never give up” mentality that is engrained into everything I do. I also have a very good ability to adapt to anything that is thrown my way. In my 16 years, I have lived in seven different states ranging from Hawaii to Colorado to Michigan. I have attended three different schools in the past two years. Each transition has been smooth because of my positive attitude, ability to adapt to new situations, and my skill as a leader. During this time, I was on three different baseball teams.  Although I was new, I took a leadership role on each team. For example, I knew that the two team practices per week were not going to be enough to win tournaments. So, every time I went to the indoor facility or the high school to get extra practice, I let my teammates know I would be there and asked them to come along to get in more reps.

I believe that the experiences I have had living in so many different places, sets me apart from other recruits.  I have the tools necessary to quickly adapt to new environments. Because I have played on teams from across the country, I have been exposed to a wide range of athletes and know how to work with teammates and be a leader.  I follow five basic principles: 1) Golden Rule: Treat others as I would want to be treated, 2) Give 100% in everything I do, 3) Act with integrity at all times, 4) Control myself mentally, physically and emotionally at all times, and 5) Excellence without arrogance.
