Unlike some kids, I don’t know exactly what I want to major in college, nor do I know the college experience that I’m searching for, but what I do know is my ultimate goal is to further my baseball career at the strongest academic institution possible. I want to be in a program that will facilitate my growth both on and off the baseball field.
I also know that I’m no stranger to hard work. Pine Crest is nationally renowned for academic excellence, and our baseball team plays in one of the most competitive districts in the state of Florida. There have been many long nights throughout my high school career, especially in a divorced family where I am going back and forth between households weekly, but I always figure it out and feel like I am well-conditioned and accustomed to the challenges of balancing academics and athletics.
In the classroom, I have always thrived in my math classes. I took Algebra 2 Honors my freshman year, Geometry Honors my sophomore year, Pre-Calculus Honors as a Junior, and I will take AP Calculus AB and AP Stats my senior year. I hope to find a major to focus on my strength in math.
What sets me apart is I’m just now starting to develop into the player I know I can be. Growing up, my dad has not supported my love of baseball, so I could really only play on days and weekends I was with my mom. Now that I’m getting older and am able to set my own priorities, I am seeing improvement daily. I’ve had several coaches tell me “I’m just scratching the surface” which is the most exciting part.
I’m a team guy. I want to contribute and win, however I’ve been on some struggling teams, so I know how to lose and keep grinding. My high school team has taken a hit in recent years to lacrosse, so I have learned how to fight through adversity and compete daily.
I enjoy playing for my travel team, as we compete with some of the best in the country. Being around good baseball and competition brings out the best in me.
Whether in the classroom, on the field, in the dugout, in the weight room, or simply representing my school, I will always give my best. I aspire to grow not only as a baseball player but also as a man.
