Being runner ups in a great regional tournament my sophomore year in high school is probably the most valuable moment in my ongoing baseball career. Although we didn’t make it to the state tournament, we did get to play in a sub state game and lost by a walk off in a 4 hour game. This is valuable to me as a current high school player because it is the furthest any of my teams have made it, and we were lucky enough to make it there after having a bad season and then coming together as a team and becoming better teammates, bonding like brothers and family in order to continue in the tournament and not give up hope.
This has helped me as a person in the ability to make better decision on and off the field. For example, being more of a team leader in a spot where it can be tough to lead by example if you’re having a bad game, but continue to lift everyone else up. The biggest thing I can take and continue to grow and learn as a person from baseball is that in life, you’re always going to have teammates, and you might not always like each other, but you should love each other like family and grow together in order to become a better group as a whole. In that I have learned how to better myself as a leader and teammate, going into my senior year my goal is to be the best leader and role model on and off the field, athletically and academically as possible to set an example for the younger kids!!
