Payton Jay '25 Recruiting Profile

Baseball has been my passion and year-round focus since I was 7.  I've had the privilege of being a left-handed pitcher (LHP) at Stoneman Douglas High School  in Parkland, Florida. It's a dream come true to be on the team that just won it's 4th consecutive Florida State Championship and ranks #1 in the country for 7A baseball.  Head Coach Todd FItz-Gerald is also my coach for my summer travel team, the Original Florida Pokers. I was the winning pitcher for the PG 17U World Series last October 2023 in Fort Myers - ranking us #10 in the USA. In Spring 2023, I was presented with the "Coaches Award" for team leadership of the JV squad and I'm excited to play Varsity this year.  Head Coach Todd FItz-Gerald is a four-time National Coach of the Year -- including 2021 and 2022 -- and the Varsity team impressively won both State and National Championships three-peat in 2021, 2022 and 2023. The intense training and focus of this team is preparing me well for my dream to play college baseball. The discipline and principals of baseball have made me a good sport, a great student and a person who understands the value of being active in the community to help others. Coach Fitch has taught us we must be as good off the field as we are on the field - always! Being a man of excellent character and team morale leader is always my goal.  I play summers with the Original Florida Pokers 16U (2025) travel baseball team, doing the Perfect Game World Series and National Championship tours in, Georgia and South Florida -- I'm proud to say we made it to the championship final in 2022 and to the second round of playoffs in 2023! The Original Florida Pokers 2025 currently ranks 47th in the country and 11th in Florida.  My pitch training is at TBT Training in Boca Raton; as well as with Luis Lopez in Lake Worth, Florida.  I weight train at Limitless and stretch weekly with a staff member of Barwis in Deerfield Beach. My future goal/dream is to play baseball in college and then to pitch in the MLB!
