My name is Hunter Chipman. I live in Pensacola, Florida and play baseball for Pensacola Catholic High School. Being a military dependent I have moved 8 times in my life. Baseball has always been a way for me to break into a new place and make friends. I have been playing baseball since I was 5, from t-ball up to now high school baseball. My most recent experience was living overseas for 3 years in Okinawa, Japan. Over there I played high school baseball at the varsity level my freshman and sophomore year. I learned many things from the ways that the Japanese play the game, and the respect that they have for the game. Those lessons and experiences will always stay with me.
It has always been a dream of mine to play college baseball. There have been many sports and activities I have tried over the years, but only one that has stuck. Baseball is the reason that I wake up every morning and the thing I look forward to doing in my free time. It is my hobby and my passion and I honestly can't imagine going through college without something like that in my life. That is why I want to play baseball in college, because I love the game.
The most important part about going to college is to seek the education needed to be successful in life. I understand that and that is why I take my academics very seriously. I try to do the best I can in school every day. I am still undecided in the major I wish to pursue, although I know I want to pursue an education in the field of science. I take interest in fields such as biology, marine and physical sciences. I plan to work hard in college and put my education first. However, baseball will help me break in like it always has. It will give me something to do when I need a study break, and most of all it will help me feel like I belong.
Thank you for your time in reading this letter and in showing interest in me. I can't tell you how appreciated it is. Hunter Chipman
