Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Greyson Watson. I am in the class of 2022. I’m 5 foot 11 inches and 165 pounds so I am on the larger side of my age group and teammates. My primary position is outfield but I also pitch. I would say my biggest perk is that I am a very strong leader and I am not afraid to step up when needed and lead. I started on JV my freshmen year at Treasure Coast High school in left field and batting second. At the end of my JV season I got pulled up to Varsity to practice and go to the games. My head coach for Varsity told me that I have a high chance of making Varsity my Sophomore year which is why I got pulled up at the end of my JV season. The team I am playing with for my summer baseball is called the Treasure Coast Tribe 18u. I also start in the outfield batting in the 7 hole. In a recent Prospect Wire tournament I got the player of the game award because of my pitching getting 6K’s and I went 2 for 2 that game.

I take my education very serious and before anything. Although I did struggle in a class my freshmen year, I stayed persistent and finished passing the class. That class was Aice General Paper which is a college class and I was taking it my freshmen year which presented some issues, yet I still passed it. In my last Florida State Assessment, I got a 5 out of 5 on both my writing and my reading and a 4 out of 5 on my math. Being as I am only a sophomore, I do not have my eyes set on one career but I do find good interest in Aviation. I still want to keep my options open to different careers.

I would say one of my biggest motivators is from when my team and I traveled to Cuba in summer, 2018. We traveled all over Havana, Cuba playing several games and I really saw how much the kids there care about the sport and it goes to show me how easy I have it here where I play compared to what they have. I was very humbled when I saw kids on the side of the streets playing baseball with literally sticks and rocks. It is very easy to say another motivator for me are my parents who are always there for me giving me rides to practice and games and they stay to watch me which really shows how much they care and I take that very personal and I’m appreciative of them for that.

I want to look into colleges that will be good for me academically as well as for sports. I love the game of baseball and I would absolutely love to play at the next level.

I really appreciate you taking the time to read this and I know that without a doubt I will enjoy playing baseball in college, Thank You and have a great day.
