Personal Statement
I first became interested in baseball when I was very young. I'm a die hard Rays fan and my favorite player when I was younger was Carl Crawford. He was and still is my inspiration to play the game of baseball. He is the reason that I wear the number thirteen whenever I have the opportunity to. When I entered middle school, I met a person named Kevin Ewing. Kevin was a very good baseball player, but he has a birth defect and has only one fully grown hand. He throws with his left hand and then puts the glove on the same hand to field with it. Kevin has so much passion and determination to improve himself as a person on and off the field. He became my idol and an inspiration for me while I was on and off the field.
So far in my baseball career I have learned that giving it your all every time no matter what is one of the most important things to do as a player. I've also learned that one of the largest parts of being a good player is being an even better teammate. The other players on my team; no matter how well they play; are my teammates and I should be respectful to all of them. I think the strongest aspect of my game is my defense. Whenever I move up a level I don't struggle in the outfield at all. My hitting is one of my better skills, but it takes me longer to adjust to the speed of the game than my defending. The highlight of my high school career so far is my sophomore year. I think that my hitting aspect of my game increased dramatically from my freshman year.
