Personal Statement
I attended an IB college prep high school which will prepare me for the rigors of college academically. I maintain good grades and am on the Honor Roll. I work hard in the classroom and on the field. I have been playing baseball since I was 5 years old and although I played other sports while growing up, baseball has always been my passion. I go to every practice and game with the attitude that I am there to give 100% for myself and the team and to learn everything I can about the game, as any of my teammates know I will push them to become better as well as myself. I believe my baseball IQ is well beyond my years and I also believe that the more I learn the more I can grow. I was lucky to have outstanding coaching during my years playing from a young age, including Clyde Keller, former head pitching coach at FSU. At the age of twelve, my travel team the Makos, coached by Clyde Keller had competed and earned the number 2 spot in the nation. Through my experiences playing baseball at a young age and on this team, I knew baseball was my passion.
I was the varsity starting shortstop for my high school for 3 years. I was young for my grade in high school but my work ethic and competitiveness kept me on the field. I am working hard to build my body strength while maintaining my agility as a shortstop. I look forward to playing for a college who will recognize my talent and value a team player with a strong work ethic. After my senior year of high school I moved on to play at Shoreline Community College where I started at shortstop as a freshman. During the past two or so years, I have grown not only physically but also mentally, mainly my attitude towards the game. I am the type of player who will do all of the little things right and learn fro the mistakes I make. My main goal in the game of baseball is to compete at the highest level and I know that achieving this goal will not be easy, but I am not afraid to work to get there, even if it means fighting for a spot the entire time. I also do not want to attend a school where I am comfortable, I would like to look for a place that will push and continue to help me on my path. I believe what separates me from others is the competitive drive which I have not only in success but also in failure. Failure does not make me feel sorry for myself but rather as though I didn't prepare well enough, and these learning experiences help me to grow every single time I step on the field. The person who I look up to the most is Micael Jordan, and I don't just look up to him but I want to be better and more impactful towards my sport. I want to be compared to the all time greats and not just the ones in my sport.
