Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my Personal Statement, I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Good luck in the upcoming baseball season.
My name is Luciano Leo, most call me Lou; I am in my Junior year at Weeki Wachee High School in Weeki Wachee FL. I was born on February 26, 2002 in Dunedin, FL. I have been playing baseball since I was 4 years old. I started playing at our local Dixie Rec ball organization in Spring Hill. A key moment I will always remember is the day I was given my first game ball. My eyes got huge and I could not hold back my smile and excitement. I slept with my game ball for over 2 weeks. I finally gave it to my mom to put on my shelf. I stared at it every night until I fell asleep. I remember thinking I could not wait until I added more game balls to my shelf. I knew from the moment I was given my first ball that BASEBALL was my game, the field I was supposed to play on. By the time I was 10 years old I out grew the Dixie League I was playing in. I realized there was no longer a challenge at this level for me, I wanted more out of the game, I wanted more competition and challenges in baseball. I then moved onto travel ball in the Tampa area competing in tournaments in the 10u division. I still play travel ball to day.
Travel ball has brought my game to the next level and has opened up many doors for me. In August of 2014 my travel team at that time, "Marlins Select" traveled to Freeport, Bahamas to participate in a tournament we were invited to. This was an amazing experience for myself and my teammates. We were picked up at the hotel by a charter bus and dropped at the field for our games. They had staff loading and unloading our equipment, they even provided food and drinks for us. Our parents, my teammates and myself were so moved by the way we were treated by the locals. We all were also taken back by the way they lived in the Bahamas. The children had no equipment to play baseball with nor did they have a place to buy baseball equipment. So before we headed back to Florida myself and a few of my teammates decided to leave our equipment behind and gave it to some local boys that came to watch us play. They needed it more then we did. They just wanted to be kids and play a fun game.
My primary positions are 2nd base & 3rd base, I also am a RHP for my High School team and my Travel team. I have also been used as a utility player when situations came up and my coaches needed me to. I have quick hands and good baseball sense, I am very athletic and will always give you 110%. I am eager to bring my game to the next level and feel I am more then capable of playing at the next level.
Fun Fact about me, you can always count on me for a laugh, I love to make things fun and make people laugh but I ALWAYS take my game very seriously. I am extremely motivated to play baseball in college. During my off seasons I will continue to add mass and get faster so that I may continue to be competitive in my game for High School Ball & Travel Ball in hopes of getting myself to the next level.
I am interested in playing in the south, close to home. I was born and raised in Florida, my parents, sister, & nephew are all very important to me. I want them to be able to share in my growth both on and off the field as I will continue to grow as an athlete and a person while at college. The size of the college will not necessarily be the deciding factor for me, however I do not want to be just a number to my coaches or my professors, I am the type of student who stays in communication with my teachers and will ask for help when needed . I am looking for a college where I can become part of a FAMILY and continue to grow under experienced coaches while playing at a higher level of competitive baseball and continue my education. I am looking forward to going on many college visits to help in my decision.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my Personal Statement, I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Good luck in the upcoming baseball season.
