Personal Statement
As a successful student athlete in the magnet program, my goal is to play baseball at the collegiate level while taking the opportunity to earn a degree in education. My determination, dedication and focus has served me well in the classroom and on the baseball field. I seize each and every opportunity that is given to me. My fundamental skills and baseball IQ allow be to play the game at a fast pace making minimal errors on the field. My elite speed adds value on the base path and in the outfield. Regular strength and conditioning coupled with growing patience, power and a solid eye at the plate allow me to be an extremely effective leadoff. Baseball along with academics are the priorities in my life. Every practice is an opportunity for me to improve my game and every game is an opportunity for me to compete at the highest level regardless of who is on the field. I always give baseball all that I have. Understanding that baseball is a game of failure has taught me how to overcome adversity on and off the field. I have been playing baseball since I was three years old and the desire to play this game at the next level has grown as I continued to play. During the Covid-19 pandemic shut down, I had to create ways to continue to get better alone. I developed a "gotta have it" work ethic as a result of this desire. I was able to complete multiple speed and agility workouts, strength and conditioning workouts and hitting sessions in my garage and backyard. I had to stay hot. I had to stay in shape. I had to stay baseball ready. I have developed the ability to put in quality work and correct my flaws when I workout alone.
