Personal Statement
From the first time I picked up a baseball, I knew I wanted to play baseball at the collegiate level. I have been playing the game of baseball since I was 3 years old. Not once have I ever doubted that I wanted to play baseball at the next level. Yes, I have played other sports but baseball has always been the sport for me and the sport I'm interested in pursuing. Over the last couple years, I have been taking baseball seriously. I can't remember the last time I took a day off from getting better.
Whether it is long tossing, going to the gym, running, pitching, anything, I can honestly say I am determined to getting better day in and day out. My Teammates, my parents, and my coaches have always told me how hard I work day in and day out. I have the drive to get better that you don't see in every player.
My main goal every time I pitch isn't to throw a perfect game or have 15 strikeouts or whatever the case may be, my main goal has always been to do my absolute best when I've been given the chance and leave the rest up to God. Because in the end, He gets all the glory.
I have a 3.7 GPA (3.8 weighted) and I can say that I take as much pride in my academics as I do in baseball. I am a great teammate to others around me and I always have a good attitude. I feel like by doing this, I can have an impact on others even when I might not be playing or not playing well.
Sincerely,
Michael Thomason
