I started playing baseball when I was four years old. Since that time, I have come to love the game and all that it represents. I have played in recreation leagues, travel leagues, and my middle school and high school teams. I have taken private lessons for several years to improve and develop my skills. Along the way I have learned many life lessons such as hard work, discipline, and a positive attitude can overcome many obstacles. It is my dream to continue to play baseball at the collegiate level and I have worked very hard to make this dream a reality.
Currently, I am entering my Senior year in high school. I am playing on a fall travel team and have a coveted leadership role in the marching band for my high school. I have worked hard to accomplish my goals in both of these activities. Over the years in marching band, I have given of my time to help the younger members improve their skills. For my travel team, I have to drive over an hour to baseball practices twice a week and to games on weekends. I do not mind the long drive because I enjoy the opportunity to be part of a team where I can become a better ball player and teammate.
Even with my busy extracurricular schedule, I have worked hard to obtain and maintain a 4.40 GPA. I plan to continue my education in medical school after completing my undergraduate degree. Therefore, I am looking for a college that will prepare me for my goal of becoming a physician, while giving me the opportunity to play baseball and accomplish my dream of being a student athlete.
I would be an asset to any baseball team because I am left-handed and can play anywhere in the outfield, first base, and pitch. I am hard-working and trustworthy. I have a strong work ethic and generally do more than I am asked to do. I am even tempered, level-headed, and work well under pressure. I enjoy learning about the game of baseball and am always looking for ways to improve my skills. I understand that whatever makes me better, also makes my team better. I also understand that good things come to those who work hard and will always do what it takes to make myself and my team better.
I get along well with others, including teammates and coaches, and am always respectful to those in authority. I am loyal to my team, teammates, and coaches and am willing to lend a helping hand when needed. I lead on and off the field by showing a positive attitude. My belief in strong character and integrity are grounded in my strong faith in God. Therefore, I will always strive to be a positive influence to all of those around me.
