Everyone in my family is a fan of sports and especially of baseball. I fell in love with the sport at a very early age and began playing when I was 6 years old. Baseball has taught me many life lessons. One is that hard work and dedication are required in order to achieve success. Another is the value of teamwork.
I am an self-driven worker in the classroom, weight room, and on the field. I achieved success early in my baseball career and played on a very successful travel team from 10U-14U. I am very young for my class and started my second growth phase late (I have grown 4+ inches and added 30+ lbs in the past 18 months). I am 6'5" tall and according to my doctor, will likely continue growing until I am 20-21 years old.
Due to my late growth, I failed to make the Blessed Trinity High School baseball teams my freshman and sophomore seasons. I instead played for a Spring Travel team (Smartense Angels). When I started to grow after my sophomore year, I decided to put a concerted effort into adding weight and significantly increasing my strength. Rather than try-out for the high school team my junior year, I decided to play for Smartense again in order to have an opportunity to receive more opportunities to continue to develop my game. My efforts resulted in dramatic increases in my fastball velocity as well as my bat.
In addition to school and baseball, I also play competitive recreational basketball, and work part-time throughout the school year. This has taught me how to budget my time, work with and for others, and to create a work-life balance.
