Personal Statement

The game of baseball left an imprint on me at the age of three. My father introduced the game to me and I have loved baseball ever since. The game has done more than provided fun experiences and lifelong friendships.  Baseball has taught me that you have to be able to undergo the pressures of failure but also that you have to believe that continuous hard work will help you reach your desired outcome.  It has taught me to not dwell on the past and to be "ready for the next play" on the field and in life.  I have had to persevere through not achieving my expected personal goals but my love for the game keeps me on my toes and propels me into my constant push to keep working to get better at this game.  My unyielding work ethic is one of my most prized possessions.  I am an asset because I understand the concept of team and that team efforts help all not just one.

My academic goals for high school are maintaining but also improving my GPA, finishing in the top ten percentile, and acquiring the most knowledge possible before graduating. In college, I want to continue my academic success and major in Political Science with a minor in Finance. I am a well-rounded scholar, in addition to academics and baseball.  I have been a member of BETA Club since fourth grade, voted as "Character Counts" award recipient (freshman year), voted as "Leader of the Pack" award recipient (junior year), selected as Mentor for academically at risk freshman (junior year), and just recently selected as a member of the Peer Mediation Team to be implemented my senior year.  I am also nearly fluent in Spanish... El béisbol es mi viva.

  • As an infielder Khalil is a good athlete which helps his footwork on the infield. His glove is at a good angle which will helps with consistency. Khalil threw 86 across the infield. He has above average carry on his throws. As an outfielder Khalil approaches the ball really well. He gets to a good fielding position and has a quick transfer to his release point. From the outfield Khalil threw 93. He has above average arm strength and the ball really carry's well on his throws.Khalil throws to his target consistently. He has very good accuracy. As an hitter Khalil does a good job of getting into a strong position to lauch his swing from. His swing is compact but he cuts off his follow through which will hurt his consistency as a hitter.

  • Turning in the fastest 60-yard dash time on the day was the uncommitted Hassan who showed off the wheels with a 6.36 second time on the day. He was a terror on the base paths during the game and showed off a strong arm up to 88 mph across the infield and a projectable righthanded swing. Khalil Hassan (2019 OF, Ellenwood, GA) had 3 hits this afternoon including a double. Hassan displayed good plate discipline with gap pop and an aggressive approach at the plate.
