Personal Statement
Aloha! My name is Radlee Ferreira and I am currently a senior at Waipahu High School in Hawaii. I am a starting centerfielder for our Varsity Baseball Team. I was born and raised in the city of Mililani. I have a very diverse ethnic background; I am Hawaiian, Filipino, Portuguese, and Chinese. In my 12 years of playing this wonderful game we call “BASEBALL” it has taught me many things: to be humble, to play with passion, to be a leader, and above all to have good character. I believe that testing a person’s true character is not only what is done in front of a crowd/on the field but also what they do when no one is looking/off the field. I am a big advocate of the saying “The name on the front of the jersey represents who you play for, the name on the back of the jersey represents who raised you. Do them both justice.” This is a saying that I take to heart and try to live by.
I play every game for my team as if it’s a championship game and by doing so it shows how much work, effort and pride I put into things to make my family and myself proud. Many people call me Mr. Aloha! This is what people from Hawaii call someone that is very friendly, approachable and someone who can make friends easily. I believe I will have the ability to bring my culture and mentality into any team.
My academic goals are to pursue a degree in engineering while playing baseball at the collegiate level.
