Personal Statement
My passions in life are baseball, hunting, long range shooting and science. I like hunting and long range shooting because it is time I spend with my dad and family and hiking in the mountains is a challenge I have always enjoyed. Science has always interested me; learning how everything works and creating new products by mixing different chemicals is fun; when I go to college I want to major in science so I can become a chemical engineer.
Baseball has always been my favorite sport. The highlight of my high school career so far is when I achieved my first hit on Varsity as a freshman; this made me realize that I was good enough to compete against the 17 and 18 year old pitchers as a freshman. I realized that all of my work with batting has finally paid off. I have also learned that you can’t bring someone on your team down or the whole team gets brought down; you have to stay positive and keep uplifting the team. Playing Varsity as a freshman was challenging, but I wouldn’t have wanted to play down to JV because I wanted to see if I could compete at that higher level. I have been interested in baseball ever since T-ball, but hearing stories about how my grandpa pitched for the New York Yankees and my dad was signed to play for the San Francisco Giants really inspired my interest in the game.
I have had to work hard to play baseball because we didn't have a team where I lived and my friends all played different sports. Driving to practices and games from when I was 9 years old never bothered me, because it meant I got to play the game. My parents have always invested in me, and now I am playing for a Boise team which I am excited about. I am a good candidate for your team because I know what it takes to play for different coaches, with different players, in different towns, and as along as I am playing baseball I am good!
