Personal Statement

It is my goal to compete on a collegiate baseball team and do whatever is needed to help the team. I pride myself on being coachable, academically inclined, and hardworking.  As I grew up in a rural community on a livestock and grain farm, I know the importance of hard-work, responsibility, independence, and patience from an early age. Being a farm kid is not always easy, but it has developed me mentally and physically for life and the world of sports.

I can remember playing my first t-ball game and falling in love with the sport.  It didn’t take me long to transition into a full-time travel player for my 9U team.  At that time, I had also developed the passion to play for a travel hockey team too.  Baseball is a mental game as well as having athletic ability.  My work ethic and athletic drive has made me into the athlete I am today. I pride myself on my approach at the plate.  By working with my hitting coach, I have been able to improve my swing and it allowed me to be a critical hitter as a sophomore for our Varsity team. I am always trying to perfect my skills.  I have persevered when times were tough and understand the work you put in during the off-season is just as important as in season to prepare you for what lies ahead.

Sports is very important to me, but academics is too.  I pride myself by having one of the top GPAs in my class, along with taking several advanced college classes.  Being from a smaller community, our school is not able to offer all the honor courses as the bigger communities.  However, I have tried to take as many AP/Dual Credit classes as possible in order to gain college credit while still in high school.  I believe both my drive for success in the classroom and on the field will make me a valuable contributor to your school and program.

Thank you and I look forward to meeting with you and discussing my abilities in more detail.
