I have been playing baseball since I was 4 years old. Being a very competitive person has drawn me to baseball and is the biggest reason I love to pitch. The competition between a pitcher and a batter is a good outlet for my competitive nature. Feedback I have received from college coaches who have seen me play is that I am very coach-able, have a good mound presence, and control the running game well. My biggest challenge in baseball so far has been freshmen year. I broke my leg while playing third base for the sophomore team chasing down a foul ball. I was on crutches for three months and went through a lot of physical therapy. I decided I was going to come back strong. After regaining my strength, I went back to refining my mechanics. By my junior year I was the number one starting pitcher for my varsity high school team.
I’d like to major in Biomedical Engineering in college. Through this field I hope to build prostheses to help better the lives of amputees. I first became interested in Biomedical Engineering when I took a biotechnology course my junior year. I enjoyed this class so much that I dropped my second semester study hall in order to be the teacher’s aide for the class. Working together for a common goal whether it is building prostheses or winning a game is something I want to be part of. I like being with people who share my passion for accomplishment. I hope to play on a team that shares my competitive nature and drive for academic success.
