Making the Junior Varsity baseball team as a freshman was one of the best things of my baseball career. It showed that hard work does pay off, and determination is a key element. Later that spring I got a call to play for the Varsity baseball Team and once again I proved to everyone, and most importantly myself, that I can do anything I put my mind to. These last two years in highschool, my determination to improve as an athlete and a student has gotten stronger. I am currently a Junior in high school and graduate in June of 2020. I am a left handed pitcher and an outfielder. Every summer I work on what I can improve as a student and an athlete, last summer I worked on becoming more of a first basemen because I wanted to expand my use on the baseball team. So entering my Junior Year, I can be the best utility player and do my part as much as I can. I do my best to manage my time which is one big factor to being a student athlete and on top of that, I try to perfect my craft. Every game I felt like I needed to do more even if I was the only player putting 110 percent in every game and practice. Eventually Sophomore year came along and I had a pushback as I only stayed on Junior Varsity for the first half of our season, It opened my eyes to work even harder and I wasn’t satisfied with staying on JV although we won conference and had a 8-0 start to our 18 game season, I was driven by that and I made sure I would do my best to lead Junior Varsity to the city playoffs.
I was fortunate to play on junior varsity those last two years and getting acknowledged by the end of the season to help varsity for their city playoffs and state playoffs push. I learned the value of how much teamwork and chemistry was needed in the game of baseball. We played against talented teams across the city of Chicago and it pushed us to play at our very best and even myself. As a student athlete, I learned that commitment, sacrifice and leadership goes a long way. I’m looking for a program that will benefit me athletically and academically. I believe that along with the talent that I carry that can compete at a college level, I also have the work-ethic and leadership to make the best impact to your program. As a three sport athlete both basketball and baseball, and also 16 inch softball club, I know I have what it takes to be a great fit to your team.
