I take great pride in the person and player I have become today through perseverance and hard work. I used to be the kid that everyone underestimated. I am the youngest in my class and I was always one of the smaller ones on my teams. These things turned into one of my greatest assets. I played football, basketball and baseball, but I can't say that baseball was always my favorite because I simply loved to compete. I love being on a team and I love to play. When I was younger I was small, I learned quickly that if I put the extra work in I could be one of the elite members of any team I was on. That idea helped shape the person and player I am today.
Academically, I struggled a bit my freshman year. I commuted to a school 40 minutes away and had to establish myself with new friends and a challenging academic environment. Freshman year was very tough, I chose to go to an all boys school because it was a dream of mine to attend Mount Carmel High School since I was young. I loved their sports program and wanted to play baseball for the Caravan like my cousin Steven Bajenski. However, the environment was different than anything I have ever experienced and required me to buckle down. I pursued help from my teachers when I needed it, put the extra work time in on my homework, and had to sacrifice time with friends and from social events. I can proudly say that since my Freshman year, I have raised my grade point average from a 3.13 to a 3.51 at this time.
On the baseball field, I have always been one of the smallest players. I never “felt” small, but at first impressions, my team members and coaches saw the small kid. I quickly changed their impression through my abilities. The off-season is where I take time to develop myself. I work everyday at hitting, fielding and strength training. I have worked with trainers to improve my diet and fine tune my skills. I have learned you can always find a way to see the field if you work hard for it. My main goal has always been to play on a college baseball team. I have devoted everything I do in my life to get one step closer to my goal, and will do everything I need to to achieve it.
