Personal Statement

To whom it may concern:

My name is Casey Coates and I am a 5’11 165 pound left handed pitcher and outfielder from Chicago, Illinois.  This fall marks the start of my senior year at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School. I currently have a 3.97 cumulative GPA and I have a 1280 SAT super score.  I am taking both the SAT and ACT this fall so I am working hard in order to improve my scores.

I strive to attend a school that can assist me in growing on and off the field.  Education has always been an important piece of my life and would like to continue to expand my knowledge.  Furthermore, I prefer to go to school on one of the coasts but location is not the greatest deal for me.  If I had to choose one area though I would choose the West Coast as my brother went to school out there and his experience has driven me to like the West as well.  Exploring a major in the Business/Finance field is my desired choice.

My biggest accomplishments this past summer was being selected for Chicago Public School (CPS) Conference’s All Star Team.  I was also selected as a pitcher and outfielder for another All Star Team representing Chicago in the inaugural ESPN Geico City Classic baseball tournament.  Although these things were amazing to be a part of, my fondest accomplishment is hosting a Zero (0) ERA all summer for my travel team, White Sox Ace.

My goal for any college program is to be able to help us succeed on the field.  I want to make an impact and also be a part of the culture of that team.  I will bring to the team my hard work, my dedication and my competitive nature.  I will put myself out there to do anything that needs to get done to better our team.  When I step on the field for anything I am focused in on the task at hand.  Whenever competition arrives I give all that I have to hopefully come out victorious.

If given the opportunity, I feel I can be a positive impact on your program.

Respectfully,

Casey Coates
