Personal Statement
My name is Will Welder, and I am a 16 year old junior at Central High School in Crystal Lake, Illinois. I am currently 5'11", 160 pounds, and the starting short stop on my high school's varsity baseball team. I have been playing baseball since age 5 and my passion for the game grows year after year. Being able to compete in college baseball has been a dream of mine ever since I became serious about playing. I have worked hard on the field and in the classroom to make my dream a reality. My dad was a three-time Academic All American (once Academic All American of the year) and is a member of The Augustana College Hall of Fame; my goal is to follow in his footsteps. My grades are a direct reflection of my work ethic as I have been able to maintain a high grade point average in rigorous honors courses while also being a starter on the sophomore basketball team and varsity baseball team at my high school. My family has always been supportive and stressed the importance of education before baseball. It is because of them that I will take this mindset into the recruiting process and look for schools that can provide a good education for life after baseball. Thank you for taking a look at my profile and good luck in the upcoming season.
