Personal Statement
My goal is to combine my interests in architecture and engineering with my aspirations of playing competitive, collegiate baseball.
From a young age, I’ve been intrigued by the mental and physical aspects needed to play baseball. From the age of 3 or 4, I would watch an entire 9 inning game from start to finish, asking my father questions about the game throughout. I wanted to learn how and why the players did what they did. I’ve always been very engaged in many different sports and have been a student of each of them.
When it came time for my first official baseball practice, I was so excited and ready to learn new skills; I was even more excited when the first game arrived. At every practice and game, I would pay attention to the coaches’ explanations of different skills and try my best to replicate them perfectly.
Although I am primarily a catcher, pitcher, and 3rd baseman, I have been coached to be a baseball player. I have played every position as needed to help my team and I understand the role of each position in a game scenario. During the pre-season of my Freshman year, my coach asked if I had ever played shortstop before. I told him that I hadn’t. I ended up playing a lot of shortstop that season when I wasn’t catching or pitching.
I believe in working hard at every practice and game and in the classroom. I thrive on pushing myself to be better. I am committed to improving myself on the field and in the classroom, and committed to my team and supporting my teammates. I would love to find a team where I can use my skills to contribute to the team’s success.
