Personal Statement
As a kid, I thought that team sports required skilled athletes to work individually in what they were best at. But as years of competitive baseball went on, I realized that it takes the discipline of skilled athletes to work together because your team is just as strong as your weakest link. Coaches have taught me to help develop each and every athlete on the team to try to be as equally skilled as the other. Even though kids may have their downfalls and weaknesses, it is their teammate's job to pick them up when the time is right.
This year as a freshman, my dreams of playing varsity baseball was pursued slowly as the season went on. I played around 6 games on freshmen, 12 games on JV, then I started to play on varsity, first starting out as a 3rd baseman, although it was new to me, It came to be that some players must make sacrifices to help better the team. A few weeks later, I started to become a starting shortstop on the team. I was determined to take my game to next level because I was really put up to varsity for the defensive role as I was not hitting well on varsity. This season we were struggling in the conference which was not what the team was hoping for but in the end, we were determined to keep winning games even if it was the ugly route. In the regional semis, with a man on the second I was able to punch a pitch to right field that enabled the hitter behind me to hit with runners in scoring position as I advanced to second on a wild throw back to the infield on my hit.
