Personal Statement
Hello! I am Alec Beuttel, and I am a 6' 2", 180 pound senior from Jerseyville, IL. I have played baseball since I was 5 years old, and hope to continue to play throughout college and beyond. I am a left-handed pitcher and outfielder. I have been a varsity starter since my sophomore year at Jersey Community High School. I also play for the St. Louis Pirates during the summer. I have played for the Pirates since my freshman year, and have played not only in St. Louis, but also throughout the Midwest and South. I can throw a two-seam, four-seam, change-up, and curveball. Both of my fastballs have movement, and my change-up drops out at the plate. My curveball looks like a fastball at first but then has a sharp break. I train at the Sandlot in St. Louis 4 days a week, 2 hours each day, from November through February. I am working on developing strength and velocity. I am a very strong student. I currently have a 5.1 GPA out of 5.0. I am ranked #1 in my class out of 225 students. I took the ACT in April and received a composite score of 28. I would like to attend a division I university to play baseball and study either mechanical or biomedical engineering. I hope to someday either be playing baseball at the professional level or have a successful engineering career.
