When I was younger, I always made the lower level sports teams which made me consider whether to play sports when I saw others like my friends playing on better teams. I progressed and got better which made me realize I can compete at the upper levels. I learned how hard I am on myself. I would make a mistake and dwell on it for the whole game and that led to more mistakes. I have learned to be absent minded in certain moments so that I can always be at my best and focus on getting better. I have learned from my mistakes and and continue to learn from my mistakes making me more confident and open to growth.
I became interested in baseball at the age of 7 playing T-ball with my friends and watching older kids playing in the park. When I was 12 years old my 12U baseball team went to Cooperstown and played in a week long tournament against competitive teams around the country. It was a great experience going to the Baseball Hall of Fame and seeing all the history and how it all started.
In the middle of my 7th grade year, my parents moved our family from Minnesota to Illinois. This was a difficult change personally. As a 3 team sport athlete I had to adjust to a new environment. Finding a new travel baseball team, coaches, and teammates. Teams in the area had already been formed and I had to reach out and find a program and try out individually. I thankfully found a good team that I made good friends that I still play with in high school today. In my 8th grade year my baseball team went to state and lost by one run to the team that won.
I plan to join the National Honors Society and become part of Medics and Key Club which volunteer and participate in the community which I am all eligible for this year as a sophomore.
My academic goals are to be challenged at whatever college I attend and acquire my degree with high honors.
I am very passionate and competitive when playing baseball or in life/school in general.
I strive to be my best and and am disappointed when I fail or do not succeed in reaching my goals. I have always gotten “A’s” and had high honors throughout school. I work on my own in the off seasons and always give anything I take on 100 + percent. I attend church regularly and am part of my church youth group. I believe we should all treat others as we would want to be treated and am a team player. I enjoy volunteering and working with younger kids in sports. During the summer I help with basketball and baseball youth camps. I also participate in fundraising for our high school sports programs that help provide new sports equipment and uniforms for our teams.
