Personal Statement
I love baseball and have been playing baseball since I was 5 years old. I believe the following story demonstrates my love of the game.
When I was 9 I went out for the local travel team but did not make the team. I didn't want to quit and found a non-travel team to play on that summer. I made the 10u travel team the next year but was again cut at the 11u level. So in my first 3 years of travel baseball I was cut twice. Still I loved the game and found a travel team 30+ minutes away from my home and made that team. I played for them for 2 years and the highlight of my time on that team was being the winning pitcher in a game against the program that had cut me twice.
While I love baseball, I also like playing football. I am a wide receiver and hope to start full-time at the varsity level in my junior year. There are so many positive things about football. The game makes you mentally tough as you have to be able to take a hit and keep your cool. Also, the lifting program for football is much more strenuous than baseball so I know I'm getting stronger.
Academically, my parents have pushed me to do the things that will make me successful later in life. They have always stressed the importance of good grades and how that will open up door for me in the future. My strongest subjects are math and science and could see myself pursuing a career in either accounting or engineering.
I believe the above shows that I am a hard worker and that I really want to continue playing this game.
