Personal Statement
I truly love baseball. And I’m a good player and team member. But I learn something more each time I practice or compete. One of my primary goals is to keep improving, preferably by training with excellent coaches and by playing top rated baseball with and against top rated teams, now and beyond high school.
I have participated in organized baseball since I was 5 years old. I have played most positions, primarily pitcher, catcher and outfielder. I am a good pitcher, I know how to finish a batter. I am a good hitter, I know how to respond appropriately to the circumstances presented me when I step to the plate. In addition to high school, I’ve participated in county, travel and summer league ball, and for several years I have trained one-on-one with pitching and hitting coaches during the off season. I have played school football since the 5th grade, chiefly as a linebacker and tight end. And I am an active snowboarder.
I fully recognize that no matter how much baseball I play beyond high school, it is still a short-lived activity relative to what I may be doing the rest of my life. So, acquiring a really good post high school education, preferably in an engineering field, is my top priority. My cumulative GPA is strong at 3.4, and as I continue high school my transcript will include appropriate college prep dual credit courses.
A characteristic that separates me from many if not most of the other ball players I know is my work ethic. That which comes easy to many often requires extra effort on my part. I am very willing to work as long and as hard as it takes to become better, athletically and academically. I will be an asset to your baseball program!
