Personal Statement
After committing to Calvin College my senior year of high school, I thought that I would be done with the recruiting process. But truthfully, the process had just begun. In July of 2018, the head coach that had recruited me left Calvin to pursue a job elsewhere, so I started the fall with a coach that I had never met. Due to an injury and the change in the direction of the baseball program, I decided to leave the school and pursue my baseball career elsewhere.
I remembered talking with, and being impressed by, the coach from Elgin Community College, so I decided to pursue my baseball career there. The plan was to heal from my injury in the spring and play the following year. But as everyone knows, COVID-19 hit and took away everyone's college season.
So as I stand here today, I plan to graduate with my Associates in Science degree (3.62/4.00 GPA), but I will have up to four years of eligibility remaining (I played the last two seasons in the Metro Collegiate League in Illinois, even one season right after my senior year of high school). The journey that I have been on these past two years has defined my grit and grind, and it has showed who I am as a player and as a man. I am excited to finally get to start my official college baseball career this fall and next spring!
I am looking for a serious baseball program, at any level, and am looking to be challenged in the classroom as well. Most likely, I'll be pursuing a degree in Mathematics with a plan to become a teacher and coach. My passion is playing and coaching.
I believe I'd be an asset to any serious program both on the field and in the classroom. I train hard, eat for performance, and am extremely passionate about baseball and my teammates.
