Personal Statement
My name is Mason Williams, I'm 17, and I'm in the Class of 2020 at Maconaquah High School in Bunker Hill, Indiana.
I am a very outgoing person and a very vocal and involved person, both in the classroom and on the field, as well as in my social life.
Collegiate baseball has always been a dream of mine, with bigger aspirations to one day play in the pros. I was born and bred into baseball, with it practically in my blood. My father played baseball when he was younger, and his brother was able to play collegiate baseball at a JUCO before transferring to TCU to finish his last two years. With this in mind, I would've been crazy to not take up baseball at the age of 3.
I am a 6'3”, 200, 3B/RHP. My power has been on a steady incline over the past two years with better eating habits and strength training. I am working on improving my foot speed as well, and I am continuing to shave time off of my 60 yard dash. I am confident in my abilities to field my position, pitch to the best of my abilities on the mound, and hit my spot in the order. Recently, completed 5 month Velocity Improvement Program/ Strength Training Program at Pro X Athlete Development in Westfield, IN.
Academically, I am a consistent A-B honor roll member and will be in NHS my senior year. Classwork is always a priority, making sure that I am still a student-athlete, not just an athlete. As I continue to strengthen my work ethic in the classroom, I believe it helps translate that same intensity onto the field in every situation.
Finally, my character is one of my biggest traits. I am a respectful person both in and out of class, into the social aspect of my life, and on the field. I credit a lot of this to my parents for raising me the way they have, and I couldn't be more thankful for what they've done for me.
