Personal Statement
My name is Alex Brooks and I am looking to further my academic and athletic career at a college or university which is a good fit for everyone. I am a junior at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana and currently have a 3.6 GPA.
I began playing baseball at the age of 6 and even though I played other sports such as football and basketball, baseball was always my passion. I played travel ball in Arizona at the majors level from the age of 9 until I moved to Indiana my freshman year in 2016. As a freshman at Carmel I played on the freshman team and had a great season hitting a little over .400 playing SS and pitching. My sophomore season I made the varsity team where I was told I would pitch and back up the starting junior SS. By the 4th game, I took over as the starting SS and hit 2nd in the lineup. I had a great year with the highest batting average on the team at .386 with a great fielding percentage and a strong pitching season. I was one of only two sophomores in the region selected as all county and conference honorable mention.
I am a very fundamental player who has a great glove up the middle and a consistent hitter in the lineup. I will likely not be the player who will hit a lot of HRs, but I will be the scrappy player who finds a way on base, hits gap to gap and can move runners up and around. I have always worked extremely hard to improve my game and think I have always had a great attitude and am a very supportive and positive teammate. My varsity coach recently selected me to be on the team leadership council for the upcoming season, which was an honor for me.
I love the game and one of my serious goals outside of getting my degree is playing baseball at the next level. Thank you for your time and consideration.
